An Amazing Bachelorette Weekend on Lake LBJ in Kingsland, Texas

An Amazing Bachelorette Weekend on Lake LBJ in Kingsland, Texas

Last month I took a trip down to Texas for my college bestie’s bachelorette party!

We went back and forth on the best location and ended up with Lake LBJ in Kingsland, Texas. It ended up being the perfect place for a bachelorette party and I wanted to write a blog post about it because I didn’t even know it existed until this year! Lake Lyndon B. Johnson is a reservoir on the Colorado River in the Texas Hill Country about an hour northwest of Austin and there is so much to do there! I am going to share our exact weekend itinerary.

Where to stay on Lake LBJ

We rented through Airbnb and couldn’t have loved the rental more. We knew from the pictures that it would be beautiful but it is even more spacious and spectacular in person! The rental sleeps 12 and we had that exact amount of girls. We were nervous we’d feel crammed but there was being plenty of space and it was so comfortable. Here are some pictures from the listing and also a few of our personal photos of the house!

Gated Private community

At first, we didn’t think we’d have any privacy because the houses look so close, but we didn’t feel that way at all! We didn’t even have anyone on either side of us the weekend we stayed. This rental even comes with a private boat slip if you want to rent one for the weekend or bring your own. The kitchen is literally the kitchen of my dreams! We enjoyed so many amazing meals in this beautiful kitchen.

The entire second floor is so spacious and open. You have enough counter space for everything you need and it flows perfectly into the living room and out onto one of THREE balconies!

Speaking of the three balconies…It was so perfect to enjoy meals out here and a few of us even did yoga out here in the morning!

Another amazing plus of this rental was the pool! We didn’t pay more to have it heated because it was already 75 degrees, but you can pay $50 a day to have it at the exact temperature you’d like. This pool was so awesome to hang out around on the days that we didn’t have the boat rental and weren’t out on Lake LBJ.

Getting to Lake LBJ in Kingsland, Texas

As I said, we had twelve girls on this trip. A couple of us flew in and the rest of us drove down from Norman, Oklahoma. What we found worked best was to have us out of state gals fly into Dallas airport and then have the girls pick us up from there. From Dallas, it’s about 3.5 hours to the rental. The drive was so damn beautiful! I had visited Big Bend National Park in Texas before and knew of its beauty but so many of us were like, “Wait, I didn’t know Texas was this pretty!?” If you’re all coming from out of state, you can fly into Austin airport and then you’d have about a 90 minutes drive to the rental.

Thursday night dinner at Boat Town Burger Bar

For our first night, we drove just 10 minutes to Boat Town Burger Bar. This place was soooo awesome! Amazing burgers and food in general, great service, and awesome ambiance! It’s right on the water and it had plenty of tables to fit larger parties. They have seating right on the deck by the water and also indoors if you prefer. You can come here by car and even by boat!

All of the food was so good. I highly recommend the fried pickles, green chile queso, the Texas 2 Burger, the buffalo chicken sandwich, and any of their specialty cocktails. All so yum!

We took the rest of the evening to get settled in the rental and get to know one another.

Friday Morning: Cave Tour at Longhorn Cavern State Park

Friday morning we made our way to Longhorn Cavern State Park. When I was researching activities in the area I couldn’t believe our rental was just ten minutes from a state park. We did their 90-minute cave tour and it was so awesome!

It was so awesome to learn about the history of this cave and to experience some nature during the long weekend of eating and drinking. You do have to walk 52 steps to get down into the cave and then up on your way out. Other than that, it’s about a mile roundtrip flat walk through the cave system.

I could write a whole blog post about this cave, but I don’t want to write too much about the tour because you’ll have your own tour guide for that. But, I definitely think you should do it if you’re ever in the area. It costs about $25 for adults and it’s such a cool and unique experience.

Friday Afternoon: Bar Crawl in Marble Falls, Texas

We made our way back to the rental to get ready and drive the 20 minutes to Marble Falls for a bar crawl!

Bear King Brewing Company

Bear King Brewing Company was the first stop on our bar crawl. It had great beer, amazing food and plenty of space for a large groups.

I was so impressed by all the food we had in Texas. There really wasn’t any meal I didn’t like, but the meal here was definitely my favorite.

I recommend the Embellished Nachos, Pimento Cheese Spread, Texas Poutine, Carnitas Del Cali Tacos, The Farmer’s Cut Burger and The Brisket One Burger. My mouth is literally watering thinking about all this amazing food.

If you’re ever in the area definitely make a stop at Bear King Brewing Company. We had big plans to also check out, Rae’s R Bar & Grill, Double Horn Brewing Company, Fiesta Winery and Fall Creek Winery but our plans changed when some locals recommended the famous margaritas at Bill’s Burgers, Wings & Things. Although I can’t recommend those places because we didn’t go, I think it’d be an awesome bar crawl!

Marble Falls was so cute and everything was in walking distance.

Bill’s Burgers, Wings & Things

We were told by some locals that the frozen margaritas at Bill’s were worth the extra drive so we made it! We were bummed we had just ate because the food looked great as well but we all went for the frozen margaritas.

We were told they were extremely strong and we can definitely verify that😂🤪. The Frozen Tornado was my personal favorite but everyone seemed to enjoy their drink of choice!

This spot was definitely out of the way so if you don’t want to drive more I’d recommend just doing a bar crawl in Marble Falls, but it’s so much fun when you can learn about a new spot from locals and I’m so glad we checked out Bill’s!

Friday Night: Hang out at the rental and order in

As you can tell, we didn’t have any fun in this pool….

We were so spoiled and one of our cutie’s was a badass bartender and made us frozen painkiller’s to enjoy at the pool! So yum and so fun!

I loved this rental so much because there are so many places you can hang out! A pool, badass kitchen, large living room and did I mention? Three balconies!

Angel’s Pizza for Dinner

Oh my, another amazing meal brought to us by Angel’s Pizza this time! Don’t let the look of this place be deceiving. It’s location is so random and weird but damn do they make good pizza! It was less than a ten minute drive from the rental. We couldn’t even make it one minute before destroying some pizza in the car!

Their garlic cheesy bread, regular cheesy bread and pizza were all amazing! Unfortunately we demolished it way too fast so there are no additional photos of this cheesy yumminess, but trust me and just order some!

Saturday: Spend the Day on Lake LBJ with a Boat Rental from Splash Boat Rentals

We had the best experience renting from Splash Boat Rentals. We rented their 24′ Tritoon for eight hours and it was such a seamless and enjoyable process. Our orientation was simple and every employee I spoke with from booking to pickup and drop-off were all amazing. The boat fit 12 of us comfortably and we had so much fun out of Lake LBJ.

I recommend making sure there are one or two people on the boat with substsantial boat experience. I mean always when you are driving a boat lol, but especially for Lake LBJ. This lake is kind of weird because it’s so damn narrow. We were out on a Saturday and it was very busy and some people were driving like assholes so I am glad we knew what we were doing. We decided to hang out at their small sandbar for the day and had so much fun!

I love this picture of me and Morgie living our best lives on the back of the tritoon!

For lunch we just packed a bunch of sandwiches to eat on the boat and it was so nice eating lunch on the water! Here’s our cutie bride, Chelsea, enjoying a sandwich on the boat.

Saturday Night: Final Night Dinner at Wakepoint LBJ

We had such an awesome final night enjoying drinks and dinner at Wakepoint LBJ. Our only complaint was the slow service. It took us almost an hour to get our food! We felt bad because our server was doing everything he could, just be prepared just incase that’s the norm here. But once it came, the food was very good (seriously best potato salad I’ve ever had), our drinks were great, there was awesome live music, and the atmosphere was perfect. This place is also a convenient store so you can get beer, fuel, food and whatever else you need. You can arrive by car and even by boat.

Wakepoint LBJ is the best place for Fuel, Food and Fun on Lake.

We also enjoyed a beautiful sunset here.

Overall, Lake LBJ and Kingsland, Texas completely blew me and our group away! None of us had ever been there before and it exceeded all of our expectations! If you are looking for an awesome place for a bachelorette party, family vacation or just a fun getaway I couldn’t recommend it more!
