Our Stay at Agate Cove Inn in Mendocino, California

Our Stay at Agate Cove Inn in Mendocino, California

To put it simply, our stay at Agate Cove Inn in Mendocino, California was a dream. Originally we had booked a house for our trip, but when we showed up it was 50 degrees inside and the heater was broken. To make a long story short, our rental was right next to Agate Cove Inn and when the property manager wasn’t able to fix the issue at our rental, we walked next door in hopes they had an open room. They did and that literally saved our trip!

The staff was absolutely amazing and we were able to get all checked in almost instantly. If I ever go back to Mendocino, I won’t even consider another accommodation. Agate Cove Inn has an amazing staff, views, rooms and the best “breakfast included” we’ve ever had! If you are looking for a quiet and stunning getaway I couldn’t recommend booking at the Agate Cove Inn more.

The Grounds at Agate Cove Inn

Pretty much every angle you stand on at their property has a beautiful view. Whether it’s the ocean, their gorgeous landscaping or their adorable buildings with big beautiful windows.

I love that they have a lot of outdoor furniture to enjoy the views. They even have a swing hanging from one of their trees.

One of the best parts about this inn is that they are just a 1/2 mile from the town, so if you need something it’s quick, but if you want you can just stay in your room and you’ll feel like you are so far away from the rest of the world. If you follow the road you see in the picture below just a 1/2 mile south you’ll have plenty of restaurant options and so many beaches, hikes and adventures close by as well!

The Rooms at Agate Cove Inn

We booked the day of so there were only a few rooms open. Keep in mind we were visiting in late February. If you were here in summer they would most likely be booked out months in advance. We were given the Topaz room which was quite serendipitous because we were out here for our minimoon and my wedding ring is a smoky topaz!

The room was absolutely perfect and we couldn’t believe we got it for such a great rate, especially because rooms in Mendocino aren’t cheap no matter what time of year. ($145 a night including AMAZING breakfast) It was so sunny so it was hard to capture a panoramic with my phone but that window has a gorgeous view of the ocean and I was so obsessed with the mint green fireplace.

When we were booking the assistant manager apologized that the view from the room wasn’t a direct view of the ocean but for us, it was literally perfect. The best part was the view of the sky over the ocean at night. I woke up at 3 am and the stars absolutely blew my mind, there’s only been a few times in my life I’ve seen a night sky that beautiful. The view was also stunning for sunrise.

There are 11 other rooms to choose from including some larger ones for more people. Click the link to see more options! Here is a picture of one of the larger cottages.

Breakfast at the Agate Cove Inn

If the awesome rooms, views, and staff weren’t enough their chef, Shawn, makes some amazing breakfast for the morning. Typically when I see “breakfast included” it’s a hit or miss. Many times we’ve ended up going out into town, but not here, I wanted to eat this food all day. She even asked our dietary restrictions and made some gluten-free options for my husband. Oh and the views in the dining hall. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

Our breakfast included sausage, bacon, potato and veggies, mushroom frittata, GF blueberry muffins, scones with homemade lemon marmalade and maple butter, fresh fruit, bagels, chive cream cheese, cheese, and orange juice! Wowza I want it right now!

Overall, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our stay at Agate Cove Inn. When we were here it was about 60 degrees but I dream of coming back here in the summer someday and heading down to the beach after breakfast. Have you ever stayed in Mendocino? We learned that it’s a very popular getaway for people in San Francisco to escape city life for a bit. If you have, comment below, I’d love to hear about your trip. If you haven’t, we absolutely fell in love with this little town and I’m pretty confident you will too.

My husband and I have stayed at Agate Cove over the New Year’s Eve holiday many times and LOVE it there!!! The ownership/management has changed since our last visit, the previous owners/managers were fantastic, I’m so happy to see that you had a great stay as I was worried things may have changed!
