48 Hours in Mykonos, Greece

48 Hours in Mykonos, Greece

My last stop before heading back to Athens for a night was 4 nights on the beautiful island of Mykonos. We decided to really relax these four days and take our time since we moved around a lot our first week in Greece. Although we spent 4 days on the island of Mykonos, I have decided to just keep the “48 hours” thing going as I’ve narrowed down the best things to do if you only have 2 days here!

Things to Know Before Visiting Mykonos

*Yes, Mykonos is a party island, but you can still have a laid back vacation here (we were in bed by 11pm each night😂)

*A lot of the restaurants don’t open until mid May

*Mykonos is extremely windy so if you are here before the weather gets hot, layer up!

Where to Stay in Mykonos

Casa Anna Suites

From the moment we were picked up by the driver(Demetri) of Casa Anna Suites, we knew we made the right choice to stay here. We were a little nervous the 10 minute walk to town would be annoying, but it ended up being perfect for us. Our stay at Casa Anna Suites couldn’t have been better. The hospitality was amazing, free breakfast was a great touch and the room was so cute.

The view from the room was gorgeous and it was so nice to have a balcony.

We had a couple of days of overcast so they brought breakfast to our room, but when it was nice out we got to enjoy it out by the beautiful pool!

If you’re looking for a budget friendly, cute, and relaxing place to stay I couldn’t recommend Casa Anna Suites in Mykonos more! We have the hosts ,Christine and Demetri, to thank for so much, but especially their hospitality and all the great recommendations!

DAY ONE IN MYKONOS

Breakfast in Mykonos

Because we had great breakfast at Casa Anna Suites, we enjoyed breakfast here every morning before taking off and exploring Mykonos. If you decide to stay somewhere else and they don’t have breakfast included, some great breakfast options are El Burro Mykonos, Cosmo Cafe and Blu Blu Cafe Mykonos.

Walk to Town and Explore

The town of Mykonos is extra cute and it’s the perfect place to just wander and stop in different shops and restaurants.

When we were here in April, many of the residents and shop owners were painting and getting ready for the busy season.

I wish I could have taken this Vespa home with me…

Lunch at Sakis

For the best souvlaki in Mykonos head to Sakis. We were told by a few different locals this was the best in town and we were so glad we listened! The service and food were both great. We enjoyed souvlaki in pita and they were delicious! We loved the tzatziki and fries here as well.

One place we didn’t get to visit was Kastros Mykonos. If you are here during the summer make sure you make a stop for lunch or dinner! We heard incredible things and we were bummed they weren’t open for the season yet. If you are making your way for lunch they are walk-in only but if you go for dinner make sure you make a reservation.

Visit the Famous Mykonos Windmills

I was super excited to see the windmills as everyone says they are a must see when you visit Mykonos. I have to admit I was a bit underwhelmed by them. They were pretty dirty and don’t actually work so they were kind of just there in my opinion. Now, I still think you should go because it’s a nice walk through Little Venice to get to them, but I would just manage your expectations.

I preferred the windmills from Katerina’s balcony and I’ll chat more about that in a few paragraphs…

Drinks at Nice n Easy in Little Venice

We were told by our hotel that Nice n Easy can be swarming with people during sunset so we decided to go for an afternoon drink instead. Yes, this area gets busy but it’s because it has such beautiful views!

If you want to experience the views but don’t mind seeing the sunset from somewhere else, I recommend coming here during the afternoon! Their margarita was delicious.

Dinner and Drinks at Katerina’s for Sunset

We stumbled upon Katerina’s and were so glad we did! We couldn’t believe they weren’t busy because the views and the drinks here were so damn good. Well, we quickly learned it wasn’t busy yet because they had just opened up for the season and come May-September they will be slammed. We had their Paloma, Kyoto, Passion Trip, Margarita and loved them all! Our server (who happened to be name Katerina) made our experience here, she was so nice and funny. As I mentioned earlier, the view of the windmills is definitely the best from here! Especially with one of these awesome drinks in your hand.

Their salad with pear and haloumi cheese was awesome, their dips and oven feta were great, and their baklava was my favorite I had on the entire trip!

We ended up spending hours here and coming back more than once! It’s just one of those places you can’t help but wander back into. We absolutely loved it here and the view of the sunset was perfect as we enjoyed our tasty tropical drinks.

DAY TWO IN MYKONOS

Breakfast at Casa Anna Suites

This breakfast in bed after too many cocktails the night before really healed me…

Explore the Mykonos Beaches

We made our way out to explore a bit more of Mykonos and I’m so glad we did! There are so many beautiful places outside of Old Town. We decided to check out the quaint Ano Mero Village as it came highly recommended, but once again, I was a bit underwhelmed. The only thing we could think of is in summer Mykonos must be crazy busy and it’s nice to escape to Ano Mero, but my advice would be to just stay in Old Town or explore the beaches as we didn’t think it was anything special.

*Pro-Tip: Rent a car for $40 for the day instead of taking taxis that will cost anywhere from $150-$300 depending on where you go.*

Super Paradise/Plindri Beach

As you drive around Mykonos, you’ll see many signs for beaches along the way. Mykonos is home to so many gorgeous beaches it’d be impossible to visit them all on a short trip. If you have the time though, absolutely make your way to Super Paradise Beach. You will also hear the locals call this Plindri Beach.

Now, during summer dates this beach is filled with umbrellas and tables you can rent, DJ dance parties, and large crowds. When we were here in April we had beach weather but there were only a few others on the beach with us. It was so relaxing and beautiful.

If you’re here in the summer definitely check out JackieO’ Beach Club and Super Paradise Beach Club.

Lunch at Nikolas Taverna

After relaxing on the beach and working up an appetite, head to lunch at Nikolas Taverna. We had the most incredible lunch experience here! Once again, visiting in April has so many perks as places are less busy and you can just walk in and get a table.

We had the best service here, great food and the views were just unbelievable.

We enjoyed the tzatziki and fries (of course), mussels, salmon pasta, and moussaka. Everything was so fresh and delicious. I forgot to take a photo because I was so excited to eat all of it! If you have to choose just one place to eat in Mykonos definitely choose Nikolas Taverna!

Sunset at Armenistis Lighthouse or Kapari Beach

We had plans to watch the sunset at Armenistis Lighthouse but weren’t ready to say goodbye to the beaches yet. So instead, we drove around a little more and found an adorable beach called Kapari Beach. I’m assuming during busy season this beach is packed, but we saw just a few others enjoying the end of the day and playing beach volleyball here.

We ended up walking up to the rocks next to the beach and enjoying the sunset from there.

Dinner and Drinks at Blu Blu Mykonos

We lucked out and our hotel was just a few minutes walk from Blu Blu Mykonos so we got to come here a couple of times during our stay in Mykonos. The funny thing is, each time here we had a different experience. One visit we had great service, food and drinks and the other we had the opposite of good service and drinks. We tried to keep in mind it was the beginning of the season and they were probably just training that day. Because we had a great experience on our first visit, I am going to focus on and write about that. To start, the views and vibe here are absolutely gorgeous and awesome!

We loved the Blu Blu Salad and the pizza was so-so, but after a few cocktails it was just what we needed!

Blu Blu Mykonos is a great place to visit for any meal or time of the day or just to enjoy a cocktail and take in the view.

Overall, we had an awesome time in Mykonos! Mykonos has so much to offer with its great food scene, gorgeous scenery and beaches, and great drinks. We didn’t feel up to party here, but could tell from the mornings that people had an absolute blast at the parties, lol! Whatever your goal on this gorgeous island is- you will absolutely have a blast! Thanks so much for reading along, have you been to Mykonos? What was your favorite place to visit?
